At Fletcher Street Cottage, this week has been filled with learning, collaboration and connection. From empowering our team with new skills to supporting our clients in meaningful ways, here’s a look at what we’ve been up to.
Highlights:
- We are always looking for further ways to support the women accessing Fletcher Street Cottage. This week, Maddi, our Assistant Manager and Community Support Worker, attended a 2-day DV Alert workshop, aimed at recognising and responding appropriately to domestic and family violence. We’re grateful for government-funded training like this to help us better support those in need.
- On Wednesday, our Community Support Workers attended the Service Collaboration Workshop with key stakeholders from the sector. The focus of the workshop was the By Names List and how it can be best used to collaborate and support our clients out of homelessness. Collaboration is essential in making a difference, and we’re excited to be part of the End Street Sleeping Collaboration.
- On Friday 14th February, we said a sad goodbye to Sarah, our Counselling student. Sarah has completed over 150 hours at Fletcher Street Cottage, supporting numerous clients to achieve positive outcomes. We’re deeply grateful for the expertise and compassion she brought to our team.
- On Friday 14th, we also hosted our weekly Trivia Morning, filled with brain teasers, riddles and sports questions. There were lots of smiles and puzzled looks as clients worked together to solve the challenges. We find trivia to be a great way for our clients to connect and share laughs as they head into the weekend.
- 238 people walked through our doors for support, and 191 of them accessed our award-winning hot Breakfast Program to keep them going throughout the day. We also had 9 different services visit us, providing vital support for our community.
