Weekly Highlights: Partnerships, Progress and Pet Care

At Fletcher Street Cottage, each week brings new opportunities to connect, collaborate and provide vital support to our community. From valuable partnerships to essential services, here’s a look at what we achieved this week.

Highlights:

  • Damian, the Community Impact Officer from End Street Sleeping Collaboration in Sydney, and Sacha, the Project Coordinator from Northern Rivers Zero, visited Fletcher Street Cottage to discuss the By Names List and its implementation at Fletcher Street Cottage. We’re excited to work together to improve outcomes for those experiencing homelessness.
  • Our Fletcher Street Cottage supervisors attended the Clinical Educator Development Workshop, facilitated by the University of Rural Health. This workshop provided valuable insights and resources to further support our team’s professional growth.
  • With the support of the wonderful team at Social Futures, we were able to assist a young man into emergency accommodation. We are grateful for their continued partnership in helping our clients find safe and secure housing.
  • Kristy and Sarah from the Commonwealth Bank Byron Branch popped in to have breakfast with us and discuss volunteer and support opportunities (see photo). It was a wonderful opportunity to connect and explore ways we can work together to support our community
  • We had a meeting with Sophie from Shedding, an all-inclusive space based in Mullumbimby. Shedding provides a safe environment for the community to explore tools, hands-on learning and self-discovery. You can learn more about Shedding here.
  • Art Space this week saw 11 participants, engaging in highly therapeutic and creative activities. It’s always a special time for those involved.
  • Emma from the Ballina Veterinary Hospital visited Fletcher Street Cottage to provide vital care for our clients’ beloved pets. Her kindness and expertise made a real difference for many in need.
  • We met with Ash from the Care Finder Program, a service designed to support those over 65 to access vital services. This program helps ensure older community members are getting the support they deserve.
  • Over the week, we welcomed 249 clients through our doors, served 198 hot breakfasts and had 9 visiting services. We also provided individual support to 39 women.
