The Metropolitan Opera’s series of live performance transmissions continues with acclaimed director Carrie Cracknell’s new take on Carmen, starring mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina as the irresistible title character and tenor Piotr Beczała as her troubled lover Don José. Maestro Daniele Rustioni takes the podium to conduct Bizet’s score in a powerful staging that moves the action to the modern day.
