Weekly Highlights: Goodbyes, Gratitude and Back to Business

A new year brings fresh opportunities and moments of reflection. At Fletcher Street Cottage, we’ve kicked off the year with gratitude, connection and continued support for our community. Here’s a look at what’s been happening this week.

Highlights:

  • On Tuesday 7th January, we said a sad goodbye to Nadia, a long-time Community Support Worker. Nadia has been with us since November 2022 and played an integral role in developing Art Space, our Friday morning Trivia and many of our key processes. We wish her all the best on her new journey at a homelessness service further north.
  • We had a visit from Ash from Carefinder, the Mental Health Team (HHOT), Community Corrections, Social Futures and First Light GP Practice. We are grateful for these vital partnerships, which ensure we can offer comprehensive support to those who need it most.
  • Friday 10th January saw our Trivia sessions back in full swing! Trivia happens every Friday between 8:30am - 9:30am, providing an opportunity for our clients to connect, have fun and share some laughs.
  • A client, who was gifted a head torch from a community member as part of our Christmas Giving Guide, shared his excitement and gratitude. The head torch makes navigating his camp much easier and he couldn’t be more thankful for this thoughtful gift.
  • We were reminded of why we love supporting our community when the mother of one of our clients phoned to let us know that she “is able to sleep better at night knowing he is being supported by us here at Fletcher Street Cottage.” Moments like this make all the difference.
  • All services are now back to normal after the holiday season and we’re feeling rejuvenated and optimistic for the year ahead!
