Supporting our community's most vulnerable with open arms

Fletcher Street Cottage is a welcoming, safe and respectful space in the heart of Byron Bay where people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness can come to enjoy simple, practical relief opportunities, find meaningful connections and access broader support.

Byron Seniors

Fun and inclusive weekly activities for Byron's older residents

Afro Dance - Monday, 12th February - 11th March (5 weeks), 10:30 - 11:30am, Byron Theatre. $60 upfront for 5 weeks or $15 per session. Presented by Angela. Contact: 0417 546 382.

Studio 55: Drama Group - Thursday, 10:30am – 12:30pm, Byron Community Cabin. $20 or $100 for a block of 6. Presented by Philippa Williams & Brin Pritchard. Contact: 0422 882 319 or philippawilliamsbrett@gmail.com.

Art - Thursday, 1:30pm – 3:30pm, Byron Community Cabin. Basic materials provided. No prior art skills required. $20 per session. Presented by Geraldine Devas. Contact: gdevas@gmail.com or 0401 975 345.

Information, referral & emergency relief

Reception provide an information and referral service to support local community members. Information, referral and advocacy is also provided at Fletcher Street Cottage for people at risk of homelessness and those already sleeping rough.

Emergency relief including supermarket and pharmacy vouchers, transport support, phone and credit recharge, and electricity vouchers are available at Fletcher Street Cottage.

Space for community organisations

We provide free, peppercorn and subsidised space to community organisations at a value of $100K per year. The Byron Theatre, meeting rooms, Clarkes Kitchen and Byron Community Cabin are all utilised for community purposes.

In turn, these local groups offer services, activities and opportunities for connection and support, contributing to the social and cultural wellbeing of the community.
