Luke Heggie: I Already Told You - A Greatest Hits Retrospective presented by Century at Byron Theatre

Sadly, due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, Luke’s show has had to be postponed
We hope to reschedule for later this year.

This is a stand-up comedy show.

In between thinking the absolute worst of people and welcoming them to prove him wrong if they can, Luke Heggie can often be spotted swinging a hammer, telling luxury 4WD operators in the city to slow down, kicking the odd street surveyor’s tripod, and sticking it to the man by performing stand-up comedy 6 or 7 nights per week. If you eat bananas with the string still attached to the side of the shaft, you are in charge of a blog, you play competition frisbee, or you wear a t-shirt with the word finisher on it, then this is not the show for you.

No lowbreeds please.

“Genuinely peerless. Have it.”
Herald Sun★★★★½

“A refreshing contempt for the audience whose approval he does not crave.”
Chortle ★★★★

Recommended for ages 16 years and above.
Show contains adult themes & strong coarse language.

GORDI - Our Two Skins - Intimate Album Launch Tour presented by WME & su:ku:ya at Byron Theatre

Following her critically acclaimed second album Our Two Skins and her debut Sydney Opera House performance, Gordi is proud to announce a series of intimate, stripped back shows along the east coast.

Recorded with Bon Iver’s production team on her farm in Canowindra in rural NSW, the album is an exploration of identity, community and isolation. The impeccable ten track record was named triple j’s feature album, praised by Pitchfork and garnered attention across Europe and America.

Don’t miss this chance to see Gordi in intimate stripped back mode before supporting Bon Iver on their national arena tour in Australia next year.

Vagina ConVersations #6 presented by Zenith Virago & Byron Theatre
Feb 15 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Vagina ConVersations #6 presented by Zenith Virago & Byron Theatre

2 Shows: Monday 15th & Tuesday 16th February.

After sell out performances five years running, this informal, diverse collective of some of Byron Shire’s powerful, creative women and non-binary people with vaginas, are presenting their pieces – some are personal or professional or political stories, which inspire and educate, empower and support.

It’s funny, sad, courageous, challenging and celebratory.

Vaginas, the most powerful body part on the planet. Giving pleasure, giving life, experiencing pain, and desired and exploited everyday.

Part of the V-Day global revolution to end violence against women and children.

Following Sunday morning’s Main Beach flashmob, the women use poetry, word, dance, song and comedy to share their experiences and inspire and empower others.

Vagina ConVersations is funny, sad, exciting, challenging, and celebratory, and is a more contemporary evolution of the Vagina Monologues, bringing a courageous fresh local flavour to our community.

MC Zenith Virago

Generously sponsored by the Byron Theatre.

Proceeds to Women’s Resource Service – Byron Escape Fund, supporting Byron Shire women escaping intimate partner and family violence. Financing women in crisis to pay for emergency accommodation, keeping women and children safe. Approximately 100 women were murdered in the last 12 months by their intimate partners.

David Helfgott in Recital presented by Byron Music Society
Feb 21 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

David Helfgott in Recital presented by Byron Music Society at Byron Theatre

“David Helfgott’s brilliant and effortlessly executed playing infused the auditorium with an electric atmosphere which had built even before the almost capacity audience entered the venue. ‘Spellbinding’‘stupendous’‘breathtaking’ were just some of the adjectives used to describe a performance which mesmerized the audience to silence as the maestro unveiled his mastery.”

This account of Helfgott’s playing in Adelaide last February, could really describe any of his performances in recent years. In his hands the music always lives, in the moment, always new, always electrifying. His staggering technique, allied with his intense penetration of the musical meaning, is something audiences all over Europe and Australia find irresistible.

In this forthcoming recital for the BMS, he will showcase all of this and this concert will inaugurate the first season since Covid shut down concerts for most of 2020. Don’t miss it!

Teeny Tiny Stevies in Big Spaces presented by Piper’s Son
Feb 27 @ 10:30 am – 11:15 am

Teeny Tiny Stevies in Big Spaces presented by Piper's Son at Byron Theatre

When Teeny Tiny Stevies announced their first Australian tour last year something unexpected happened… shows started selling out within hours!

“It was brilliantly exciting but totally overwhelming” Beth said, “we had so many people writing to us who were disappointed because they’d missed out on tickets and we felt pretty terrible for them”.

So when it was time to book the next tour they got bold, and they’ve gone big.

Over the next few months Byll and Beth, along with their live band mates, will grace the stages in some of Australia’s most fun & prestigious spaces.

“It’s so hard to keep going out at night when you have small kids, even if live music is something you love and a culture you wish to continue supporting. It’s wonderfully encouraging to know families are keen to experience live music together, with us” said Byll.

With their third studio album Thoughtful Songs For Little People now out in the world (and even nominated for an ARIA award for Best Children’s Album!), they’ll be giving audiences a taste of some newbies along with all the hits, so there’s no excuse for not singing along to:

Boss of My Own Body, Baby in Mum’s Tummy, I Ate a Rainbow, On The Toilet, Family (Love Is Love), Boy Or Girl Colour.
ALL THE BANGERS!

There will be a free Meet and Greet with Byll & Beth after the show
