From 6-15 March, the 9th Byron Bay International Film Festival will celebrate the unique

experience this grassroots cinematic event offers by connecting international filmmakers

with audiences on a shared journey of inspiration, discovery and screen magic.

Byron Bay, NSW, Australia – The 9th Byron Bay International Film Festival today announced the countdown to its 2015 festival to be held in the world-renowned beachside location ofByron Bay and surrounding regional hubs from 6 to15 March.

Byron Bay International Film Festival is now Australia’s largest film festival, its 10-day

program spanning 220+ films from 35+ countries across 50+ sessions and 5 venues in 3

regional centres. It screens and awards films of all lengths and genres.

Each year hundreds of film industry professionals walk the red carpet ranging from

international screen legends to local amateurs, along with thousands of film lovers. The

festival’s events include sell-out gala opening and closing night parties, master classes,

panels, workshops and school screenings.

Festival Director, J’aimee Skippon-Volke said, “This year’s festival is all about celebrating

the unique experience we gain by leaving the comfort of the couch and attending a

grassroots film festival like Byron Bay International Film Festival.”

“Whether you’re in the film industry or a film lover, there is absolutely nothing like being in

the cinema with a filmmaker who has poured years of their life blood into telling a story”,

Skippon-Volke says. “Along with a room full of people, you’re sitting in the dark, discovering

a different way of life, going to the creative edge, laughing and sometimes even getting a

bit misty-eyed together. You hear the filmmaker share the story behind that. It’s special.”

Skippon-Volke said, “Byron Film Fest is known for its eye-opening, thought-provoking and

cutting-edge films and the submissions we have received this year are nothing short of

exceptional. Our festival goers are in for a treat.”

The festival will once again be hosting its iconic Full Moon Beachside Screening. The event

attracts thousands of people with picnics in tow to a night of free live music and cinema

under the stars with the backdrop of the Byron lighthouse.

The 9th Byron Bay International Film Festival takes place from 6 to 15 March 2015 across five

venues in Byron Bay and surrounding townships.
