Byron Safety Net Appeal

The Byron Community Centre provides a safety net for the most vulnerable in our community, supporting families and individuals in crisis

We have been a key provider of emergency relief assistance to the community for over 30 years. Earlier this year the Government dramatically cut funding for the community services we provide.

The need in our shire is great. Single middle-aged women are one of the fasted growing demographics at risk of homelessness and 40% of Byron residents earn less than $400 per week

Please help if you can. We need to raise a further $20,000 to maintain service delivery at current levels.

Your support is greatly appreciated. All donations are tax-deductible.

  • Buy a Blanket

    $25

  • Warmth is fundamental to human survival. The community centre distributes blankets and clothing via support sessions and the homeless breakfast. As we are currently experiencing a particularly chilly winter, blanket supplies are constantly running out.

  • Help with the Bills

    $50

  • Many Byron residents struggle with the day-to-day bills that turn up every month. Helping a family keep on top of their bills not only relieves immediate financial stress but also helps families’ alleviate pressure associated with being behind with their finances.

  • Family Groceries

    $75

  • Some families are struggling to put food on the table. Mortgage, rents, housing affordability and the associated costs of living is putting pressure on family budgets. Transport and medical costs, rates and rising utility bills are all contributing to the crisis.
