Award winning songwriter Matt Hill will be launching his new album, Stars and the Moon and Satellites at Byron Theatre on Friday 17 August. Best known for his delicate and beguiling keyboard parts with the group amphibian, Matt has put together a new band to present a collection of carefully crafted and heartfelt songs. With echoes of Nick Drake and Bon Iver, this music lies somewhere between the worlds of ambient post rock and contemporary folk.
Matt’s last solo album, Warm Keep Warm, won several NCEIA Dolphin Awards, including Best Album. Since then Matt has released two vinyl albums with amphibian, composed the music for the NORPA production Engine, and produced soundscapes for internationally renowned media artist Grayson Cooke. This album sees Matt trading in some of his electronica know-how for an earthier, intuitive and acoustic approach.
Matt (piano, guitar and vocals) will be joined onstage by Barry Hill (bass and guitar), Cye Wood (strings), Chris Mason (drums) and Gabriella Hill (clarinet).
