LET’S TALK MENOPAUSE is the third in a series of workshops offered by The Community Hub, in collaboration with the Byron Community Centre, to connect, inform and inspire community members. Following our sold-out, informative, and fun Menopause event in 2021 we are delighted to repeat the menopause conversation for those who missed out and those who want to return.
LET’S TALK MENOPAUSE will be MC’d by Mandy Nolan, a comedian, speaker, author and committed feminist, who is currently on her own Menopause Journey. With her ability to find humour in the obstacles and challenges that women face, she will bring the laughter so often missing in the menopause discussion. Mandy will be in conversation with Dr Jane Reffell, a General Practitioner who specializes in women’s health, Michelle Loschiavo, a senior Compounding Pharmacist and Muriele Tesauri, the founder of Wholesome Lives.
Unfortunately, Mandy Nolan can no longer MC the Let’s Talk Menopause event as she has to attend the 2022 Federal Budget this Tuesday which was only announced last week as it is now held earlier than usual. The beautiful Ellen Briggs stepped up and will be our MC for the event.
These four women bring their expertise about Menopause from various angles and will share their knowledge about how women can prepare themselves physically, emotionally, mentally and also spiritually for the menopause journey.
Proceeds from this event will go to the Feel Good Fridays project run by the Byron Community Centre – a weekly opportunity for women to access support and relax in a supportive and safe environment.
LET’S TALK MENOPAUSE will feature:
Ellen Briggs is an author, comedian, MC, Mother, Wife and Animal Lover…not in that order! She previously had a career in Federal Government, then moved into comedy where she says the people are similar. She has performed all over Australia and toured Asia with her irreverent style of comedy where she takes the normal side of life, rips it apart hits you with gags you don’t hear coming. She lives in Mullumbimby in Northern NSW with her husband, twin sons and various animals who really are the boss of her.
Dr Jane Reffell has been a General Practitioner for 40 years (in Sydney, London and Byron Bay) with an emphasis on women’s health. She has a Family Planning Diploma and a Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling and Psychotherapy and is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society. Since 2002, she has a holistic medical practice in Bangalow dealing with all aspects of women’s health and wellbeing.
Michelle Loschiavo is a senior Compounding Pharmacist and the founder and owner of the award-winning business ‘Byron Compounding Chemist’. She has a special interest in women’s health and is committed to bringing better health and wellbeing outcomes to women. Michelle also created her own brand of super potent skincare ‘PLUMPED’.
Muriele Tesauri, founder of Moonstuff and Wholesome Lives, is passionate about women’s rites of passage and women’s circles. She has an Advanced Diploma in Health Science and brings her wisdom on herbal remedies and food to support healthy transitions. Muriele believes that women are nowadays medicalised instead of being honoured in their new phase of life. She will talk about how women can prepare themselves physically, emotionally and spiritually rather than just mentally for menopause, as this would really feel like a natural and important rite of passage.
