The byron ballet company will be performing a ballet production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Byron Theatre over four public shows: Friday11th, Saturday12th (2 shows) & Sunday 13th.

This is part of byron ballet’s celebration of Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary (and our own 10th!). The show will feature the extraordinary music of Felix Mendelssohn, who began writing music inspired by the magic of the Shakespearean play 190 years ago.
This is a wonderful accessible ballet for all ages and can be enjoyed on many levels. The music in uplifting and recognisable, the storyline is comedic and magical.

Joining our local cast of byron ballet dancers are a number of currently working professionals including:
Michael Braun (ex-principal with Queensland Ballet & Royal New Zealand Ballet) as Oberon;
Monique Jose-Martella & Sean Williams (visiting soloists from European dance companies) as Athenian lovers.
Also guesting for this production is Saki Tanaka from Japan as Hippolyta;
and full-time pre-professional male dancer Chayan Blandon-Duran from the renown Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy in Sydney.
