Australian-Portuguese singer Melissa Oliveira, recorded her debut album, In my garden, in Boston with special guests Greg Osby and Jason Palmer and it’s just like an intoxicating colourful garden where 10 tracks show 10 different varieties of flowers, branching out to samba, blues, world music, original tunes and twisted standards.
In addition to presenting songs from her album and bringing them alive by use of live visuals, she will also perform songs inspired by fado, making use of the Portuguese guitar with a groundbreaking and fresh approach. This project also features JAM, who adds an impressive audio-visual layer to this unconventional line-up by using turntables in an interactive way so that even audio-visual solos are possible thus resulting in no two shows being alike by maintaining the spirit of jazz. To make this project even more eclectic, some of the visuals presented are inspired by works by famous Dutch painter Piet Mondriaan.
Known for their refreshing approach to jazz and their vivid performances, Melissa Oliveira feat. JAM, currently based in the heart of Europe in the Netherlands, are a live act whose quirkiness places them in a league of their own.
