“Something wicked this way comes”
Returning home from battle, the victorious Macbeth meets three witches on the heath. Driven by their disturbing prophecies, he sets out on the path to murder.
This contemporary production of Shakespeare’s darkest psychological thriller marks both Christopher Eccleston’s RSC debut and the return of Niamh Cusack to the Company.
★★★★ “Gripping, urgent and wonderfully sinister” Evening Standard
★★★★ “There’s a tender and knotty quality to Eccleston’s and Cusack’s relationship…[they] make a gripping central couple” The Stage
“Christopher Eccleston is an engaging, restless, commanding Macbeth… Niamh Cusack’s Lady Macbeth crackles with pain and frustration” The Stage
“Michael Hodgson’s Porter is creepy and sinister…Edward Bennett movingly registers Macduff’s grief…and Raphael Sowole is a sturdily watchful Banquo” The Guardian
Please note: This is a screening of the theatre performance, recorded live at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon on 11th April, 2018.
