Twenty-one comedy film festivals, 396 films, 343 venues across 4 countries, thousands of giggling audiences, and finally our little festival can legally drink ‘in America’ (yep it’s 21 over there?)… in 2019 Over The Fence Film Festival celebrates Birthday, its 21st Edition.
With its first fully fledged film festival in 1996, Over The Fence sought to stimulate Australian short film production and inspire international comedy, bringing it to new audiences and engaging emerging talent. Twenty-one editions later and the festival is now the longest touring comedy film festival in Australia!
Each year we are treated to a smorgasbord of talent and delight, and each year our submitting artists unknowingly provide us with a central festival theme; in 2019, as the festival ‘enters adulthood’ we are presented with – “Imperfect Worlds”.
For details of the full program, go to www.overthefence.com.au
We’d like to think adulthood brings perfection but lets face it, we all have our flaws and weaknesses that, in comedy filmmakers imaginations, make for the most fantastic and strange situations.
Trying to make a quick buck from buying alcohol for a minor? Wanting to feed ducks illegally? Or even the attempting to rob a bank in your senior years? All in the imperfect worlds of human beings. After all, not only does being “imperfect” make you human, it also highlights our hidden strengths; it is the reason why everyone is unique in their own way.
Laugh, chuckle, roar and buckle your way through 14 short comedy films portraying the imperfect worlds of human beings. Because, a bit like my parents told me at my 21st, ‘Each film, bizarre or crazy, (yep, that’s me) is perfect just they way they are’ – Welcome to “Imperfect Worlds”
